Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Domenic and Bomina Algiere.
A US Army Veteran of WWII, Bill worked as a self-employed carpenter by trade until his retirement. He was a longtime communicant and usher at St. Vincent de Paul Church where he was active in the Men's Club, as well as a life member of the Westerly Yacht Club. Bill was an avid gardener and a lifelong, passionate New York Yankee fan, but most important to him was spending time with his family.
He will be dearly missed by his three daughters and their spouses, Brenda Gama (Jim) of Wakefield, Lisa Connelly (Joseph) of W. Kingston and Elaine Connelly (Michael) of Wakefield; daughter-in-law Janet Algiere of Easley, SC; his brother Frank R. Algiere of Ashaway; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his son William G. Algiere; and eight siblings.
Visiting hours will be held at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly on Thursday from 10 a.m., – 12 noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m., at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Bradford. Burial with Full Military Honors will be at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church, 7 Church St., Bradford, RI 02808 in Bill's memory.
