Nancy was born in Peoria, Illinois, on October 11, 1929. The youngest of three daughters, she spent her childhood years in Illinois.
Her father, a skilled machinist, moved the family during her adolescent years to California and again in her teen years to Colorado, in support of the War effort, before returning to Illinois in Nancy's senior year in High School. Nancy graduated from Morton High School in 1947. In a whirlwind romance that began, and led to an engagement after a mere three weeks, in December of 1947, Nancy met the love of her life, Bud Hull, and was married on June 5, 1948. Nancy and Bud's early adventures would lead them to New York, after Bud completed college. Soon after, Nancy and Bud returned to Morton, Illinois, to start a family and raise their two sons, John and David. In addition to being a full-time stay-at-home mother, Nancy also pursued careers in banking, and later in real estate. She was recognized, over several years, as a top real estate salesperson (performer) in the Peoria Area.
In 1994, after Bud's retirement, Nancy and Bud left Morton to start a new chapter in Sun City West, Arizona. They enjoyed traveling the world, highlighted by visiting World War II battlefields and cemeteries in France, and an extended road trip to Alaska via the Al-Can Highway. Many trips were spent visiting their sons and grandchildren in Texas and Colorado. A favorite of Nancy's was watching the wildlife from the deck of the family cabin in Colorado during the summer. Nancy lived out the last 10 years of her life in a retirement community, close to family in Austin, Texas. Nancy was a quintessential child of the Great Depression. Her character built on the hard times of her youth, coupled with the success of her marriage and family. Nancy and Bud were loving parents, lifelong friends and always had an open door to all in need.
Nancy is survived by both sons, John (Kathy) and David (Sandie); four grandchildren, Erica (Colin), Adam (Corrie), Joshua (Melanie) and Morgan (Tiffany) and eight great-grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, W.R. "Bud" Hull, who passed in 2010; parents, Albert Lester and Lottie Ruth (Allnutt) Sheppard; one infant son and one great-granddaughter.
Nancy always credited the American Legion with being the pivotal proponent of the GI Bill, which funded the college educations of Bud and their son, John (both Navy veterans).
