Dr. John W. Acree Sr., 64, of Hiawassee, and formerly of Calhoun and Gordon County, died Thursday (Feb. 2, 1989) in Hiawassee. He was a son of the late Dr. and Mrs. M.A. Acree of Calhoun.

Survivors include his widow, Sara McReynolds Acree, and a daughter, Miss Cheryl Acree, both of Hiawassee; two sons, John W. Acree Jr. of Hiawassee and Brent Acree of Young Harris; seven brothers, J.T. and Harold Acree, both of Calhoun, Kontz and Travis Acree, both of Luthersville, Marvin Acree of Covington, Billy Acree of Acworth, and Rev. Troy Acree of Blairsville; a sister, Vivian Waits of Rome; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Roy Acree of Cataula; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 4, 1989) from the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church in Hiawassee with Dr. Benny Page and Rev. Jack Richerson conducting the service. Interment was in the Osborn Cemetery in Hiawassee.
