Wade Howard, 91, went to meet Jesus on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness.
He was born on Feb. 8, 1929, in Salyersville, Kentucky, to Fred and Bertha (Allen) Howard and has lived in Anderson for the past 60 years. Having worked in sales for most of his lifetime, Wade was a District Manager for the Fuller Brush Company. He retired as a sales representative for Kutche Chevrolet, formerly of Elwood.
Wade was an active member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church, a member of the Joy Sunday School class and had served as a trustee and usher. Time spent with his family and his dog Buddy was very precious to Wade; they meant the world to him. He enjoyed taking care of his horses over the years and also enjoyed watching Western movies.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna (Langley) Howard, whom he married Dec. 4, 1992; daughters, Linda Hartman, Barbara (Kevin) Eubanks and April (John) Hiday; stepdaughter, Jody (Tim) Leas; stepdaughter-in-law, Wendi Langley; son-in-law, Dan Chandler; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Lula Music, Jeannie Johnson, Lawrence Howard, and Eddie Howard; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darwin and Martha Freeman; sister-in-law, Delores "Sweet" Lockridge; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pam Chandler; stepson, Craig Langley; son-in-law; Carl Hartman; first wife, Mildred Howard; three sisters and four brothers.
Services honoring Wade's life, legacy and faith will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, in the Alexandria First Baptist Church, 2107 S. Park Ave., with Pastor Michael Deutsch officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson. The family will receive friends at the Alexandria First Baptist Church after 11:30 a.m. on Friday prior to the service.
