Funeral services for Harold W. Mitchell, 95, of Davenport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Mitchell died at his residence in Davenport on Monday, August 31, 2020. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Harold Willis Mitchell was born on June 4, 1925 in Washington County, IA, the son of Fred and Adeline (Rubson) Mitchell. Following his graduation from high school he went on to serve 4 years in the United States Navy during WWII. After fulfilling his military obligations, he married Caroline W. Howard on December 11, 1948 here in Davenport. She preceded him in death in June of 2010.

Mr. Mitchell worked as a truck driver for many years retiring from Amoco Oil Company in January of 1984. He also owned and operated the Lindsay Park Tap in Davenport from 1968 to 1977. Harold was a long time member of Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport and was also a life member of VFW Post #828 and also Davenport American Legion Post #26.

Surviving members of the family include – a Daughter: Joy (Denis) Mussmann of Davenport; 2 Sons: Harold (Charlotte) Mitchell and Mark (Lucene) Mitchell both of Davenport; a Sister: Doris (Fred) Groth of Janesville, WI; 10 Grandchildren and several Great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by – his Parents; his Wife: Caroline; a Son: John; 2 Sisters: Marie and Phyllis; and 2 Brothers: Kenneth and Ralph.
