OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Sunday, 11 February 1973:
Dave Woodard
Dave B. Woodard, 54, of 6110 Fairdale, Houston, formerly of Elkhart, died at 11:115 Friday in a Houston hospital.
Funeral services are to be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the George H. Lewis Funeral Chapel on Sage Road in Houston. Graveside services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart with burial following unter direction of Hassell & Foster Funeral Home.
A native of Elkhart, Mr. Woodard was born September 24, 1918, a son of the late Francis W. Woodard and Mrs. Emma Davis Woodard. He had been a railroad switchman for 35 years, most of them spent in Houston.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lola M. Woodard of Houston; one son, Captain Michael Woodard of Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Woodard Casey of Houston; three brothers, W. D. Woodard of Baytown, Clyde Woodard and Harold Woodard, both of Palestine; three sisters, Mrs. Veda Wherry and Mrs. Dawson Morehead, both of Elkhart, and Mrs. Odessa Crowson of Houston; and three grandchildren.
