Shirley was born in Niles (now Fremont) in Alameda Co, CA. In 1955, she married her husband. To this union, 3 daughters were born. Wanting a son, they adopted a boy. Shirley was a bookkeeper and was an excellent organizer and knew where everything was placed. Shirley had two main hobbies. One was breeding and showing Dalmatians. Shirley's kennel was called "Of The Mount Dalmatians." Her favorite coloring was the liver spotted Dalmatians. She tried to get at least one liver (brown) spotted Dalmatian out of her litters. Shirley's other hobby was genealogy and tracing her and her husband's Azorean roots. She was very willing to assist and help others as well.
Shirley was survived by her husband, her daughters and son-in-laws, her son and daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by both the Dalmatian breeding community and the genealogy community, as well as many friends and neighbors around Beckwourth and Portola, CA.
Shirley is buried in the Cambra family plot, by her parents.
(Note: Not sure if the hospital was on the CA side or the NV side of the state line. I put California for now).
