Jack Edward Abrahamson, of Austin, Texas, passed away May 4, 2020 at age 95. He was born in Elgin, Texas on August 7, 1924 to George Abrahamson and Eathel Falls Abrahamson. He is survived by wife, daughter, son and wife, grandchildren, and sister. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Joanne and brother-in-law Pat Anderson.
He attended Elgin schools, playing baritone in the band. He graduated in 1942 and went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad as a Telegraph Operator. He was drafted in 1944, served in an Army Railroad Battalion in the Philippines during World War II, and was discharged May 12, 1946. He married his high school sweetheart, Leona Seaholm, on June 7, 1946. He returned to work at Southern Pacific Railroad and retired in 1962. In retirement, Jack drove dealer trades for Henna Chevrolet for the next twenty-two years.
He was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Austin, Texas where he served as usher and teller. He was active in the Elgin Historical Society, Elgin and Vicinity Swedish Association and the Austin Scandinavian Club. He was known as an enthusiastic polka dancer at the SPJST Hall and champion water volleyball player at Greenridge Independent Living.
