Oldest daughter of Alexander Crawford Brown & Anna Jane Horton who were married in Somers, CT on January 26th, 1778.

She married Aaron Howard, son of Thomas (1747-1811) & Martha (1742-1815) née Hoar (or Baker?) Howard, on Sept 17th, 1798 in Windsor Co., VT (in either Sharon or Royalton). Mother of eight, her husband died before their youngest had her first birthday. She never remarried.

It's unclear when Permelia moved to Illinois but some of her children arrived in the earliest years of Kane County's settlement. In 1850 she was residing in the household of her daughter Maria, wife of Edward Bunker,
