Laura Cox, 96, of the Wallen's Creek Community of Jonesville passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2020, at Lee Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on January 11, 1924 to the late Harrison and Paralee (Sybert) Childress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Cox, three sons, Keith, Doug and Kenny Cox, a grandson, Ben Cox, three brothers and three sisters.
Laura was a hard worker who had always provided for her family. She was very loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Davis Chapel Church.
She is survived by one son, Jimmy Cox, of Woodway, VA; two daughters-in-law, Sheryl Cox, of Jonesville, and Linda Cox, of Hiltons, VA; one sister, Inez Bishop, of Tennessee; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, at Flanary Cemetery located on Middle Wallen's Creek Road in Jonesville. Pastor Rob Haynes will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in her honor to Lee Health and Rehabilitation Center, 208 Healthcare Dr., Pennington Gap, VA 24277.
