Died at the home of her grandson, John Schultz in Millersburg, Tuesday April 6, 1909 at 2 o'clock pm. Mrs Frederica Roggentien, aged 76 years, 11 months, and 23 days. Frederica Demong was born in Mecklenberg, Germany, April 13, 1832, and came to this country in 1884, settling in Pilot township where most of the remainder of her busy life was spent. In 1857 she was married in Kruemmel, Mecklenberg, Germany to Mr. Henry Roggentien. To this union were born ten children, seven of whom still survive. Two children died quite young, and a son Fred was called to him reward in 1891, in his 44th year. The living children are : Mrs. Fred Gorsch, Mrs. Fred Schultz, Mrs. Minna Burck, and Henry Roggentien of Pilot twp; Mrs. John Robrahn and Louis Roggentien of Marengo; John Roggentien of Millersburg. These all mourn the loss of the best and most affectionate of mothers. Besides these she leaves thirty six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Religiously she was trained in the Lutheran church; but since coming to America, she did not reside convenient to any church of that denomination, and affiliated with the German Reformed Church of Pilot twp, since its organization. She was a lady of kind and charitable disposition, and her many friends remember her acts of neighborly accomodation and helpfulness. She was a good, true, motherly woman, and though well advanced in years, will be much missed by her many relatives and loving friends. Her husband died ten years ago, since which time she has made her home with her children. The community mourns the loss of a good woman gone; and extends to the bereaved relatives its heartfelt sympathy. The funeral is appointed to take place at the German Reformed Church in pilot twp. Rev S Elliker will perform the last rites.
