Stanford "Sonny" Wayne Birdsong, 90, of Linden passed away at his home on August 26, 2020. Mr. Birdsong was born April 5, 1930 in New Boston, Texas to John Frederick Birdsong and Bula Mae Triplet Birdsong. "Sonny" served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1948-1952 where he was on two ships, US Valley Forge and USS Essex. He like to garden, go fishing and he loved his dogs.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheila Greenhill, Patricia Duncan and husband Joe; one brother, "Bud" Birdsong; one sister, Velma Barnard; four grandchildren, Kellen Greenhill, Dewayne Duncan, Sharron Duncan, Amy Duncan and nine great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Birdsong; two sons, Patrick Birdsong and Ray Birdsong; thirteen siblings and one son-in-law, Phillip Greenhill.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2020 at The Old Union Cemetery in Simms, Texas and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.
