Lydia was the daughter of David F. and Mary Ann "Mollie" Johnston Holcomb. Her mother, Mary Ann Holcomb Kersh, is buried in Guiceland Cemetery. Lydia was residing near Hamshire in Jefferson Co, TX at the time of her death in Winnie, TX. She shares a stone with her husband, Torwald T. Torkelson, who she married 25 May 1907 in Anderson County. Their daughter-in-law, Ouida Kirkwood Torkelson Havern, is also buried in Garden of Memories.

Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Lydia Ann Holcomb Torkelson, 85, of Elkhart, who died Thursday, are incomplete and will be announced later by Hassell & Foster. Burial will be in Garden of Memories, Elkhart.

Mrs. Torkelson was born August 5, 1882 and was reared near Salmon. She died Thursday night. A Baptist, she was the widow of Tarvald Theodore Torkelson, who died November 10, 1955.

Survivors include a son, Sophus Torkelson of Baytown; two daughters, Mrs. L. H Henderson, Jr. of Monroe, Louisiana and Mrs. T. T. Atwood of Hamshire, Texas; Two half-sisters, Mrs. Bulah Wells of Galena Park, and Mrs. Jewel Farl of Monroe, Louisiana; several grandchildren.
