Randy was born on March 31, 1952 to Duane and Gloria Brown in Harlan, IA. He graduated from Tri-Center High School in 1970. He was a star basketball player throughout high school and was inducted into the Tri-Center Basketball Hall of Fame in 1994. He worked at various positions until he became a welder at Twin City Fan & Blower where he worked for many years.

In 1999, he married Sheryl Brown at Zion Lutheran Church in White. They spent their married years doing the things they both enjoyed, including camping, fishing, golfing, and gardening. While Randy stayed busy, he was extremely proud of his kids and grandkids. His family inherited his love of the outdoors and learned the importance of close friendships. They will be forever thankful for his big heart, which prompted him to adopt and love them as his own.

He loved to socialize and spent a lot of time making new friends wherever he went. Friends and family will remember answering calls from Randy greeted with his well-known "What're you doin?"

Randy spent summers at his favorite place, the lake, where he became close with many camping neighbors and shared many Busch Lights. He became known as the Jolly Giant around the campground and enjoyed taking the grandkids for buggy rides around the lake.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Gloria Brown; wife, Sheryl Brown; brother, Ronald Brown; and nephew, Gabe Brown.

He is survived by a son, Nathan (Barbara)Brown of Riverside, IA; daughters, Jonna (Ethan) Sandstrom of White and Morgan (Jayson) Brown of Brookings; 1 brother, Rick (Jo) Brown of Florida; 6 grandchildren, 7 nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends.
