Ray Edison Davis, 80 years of the Slate Creek section of Grundy, VA, went to his Heavenly home, Saturday, August 22, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 11, 1940 in Buchanan County, VA, he was the son of the late Matthew and Myrtle Stiltner Davis.

Ray was of the Church of God faith, and enjoyed spending time with family and meeting up with friends for breakfast and dinner at Dairy Queen, McDonalds and Hardees, and attending church when he was able.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-eight years Mona Faye Mullins Davis, a son Ray Edison "Buddy" Davis, Jr., and daughter Pamela Jo Davis March 29, 2020 after her courageous battle with cancer, brothers William and Dewey Davis, sisters Joyce Ann Davis, Nell Church, Shirley Keene and Loretta Dawson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters Paula Jackson and companion Randy Steele of Lexington, SC, Tina Rife and companion Mark Davis of Welch, WV.

He is also survived by his grandsons Dustin Ray Jackson, Corey Wayne Charles, Staff Sargeant Johnathon Michael Rife; granddaughters Madison Lea Charles, Jamie Lynn Justus, Christina Renee Rife, and Tasha Lanette Rife; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service for Ray Edison Davis will be held at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Grundy, VA, Wednesday, August 26, 2020, 1:00 p.m. along with a Celebration of Life Service for his daughter, Pamela Jo Davis, who passed away March 29, 2020 after her courageous battle with cancer. Pastor Eddie Wilson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee Davis Cemetery, in Grundy, VA.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Justus, Brandon Coleman, Issac Coleman, Mikey Foster, Keith Keene and Danny Davis.

The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Grundy, VA, Tuesday, August 25, 2020 after 6:00 p.m. with evening service to be held at 7:00 p.m.
