Mrs. Hans Sondergaard, who passed away in the Tacoma General hospital a Tacoma, Washington, Thursday, August 27, was buried in Newell last Wednesday afternoon, funeral services being held in the Danish Lutheran church in charge of the Rev. Hakon Jorgensen. Marie Christiansen was born in Falster, Denmark , March 19, 1863, coming to America in 1882 and stayed with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr and Mrs. Chris Larsen at Cedar Falls, Iowa . On March 16, 1888 she was married to Hans Sondergaard at Newell. Iowa. This couple began farming north of Sulphur Springs and lived on farms near hear until about fifteen years ago when they moved to Newell. Three years ago they moved from here to Enumclaw, Washington where they have since made their home. To this union one daughter, Mrs. Martin Jensen, of Enumclaw. Washington, was born. Mrs. Sondergaard was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Lutheran church, being a member of t he one in Newell at the time of her death . She was always working for others and in the home, being of a quiet disposition. Besides the husband and daughter, three grandchildren survive. Mr. Sondergaard, Mrs. Jensen and her daughter were here for the funeral. Mrs. Sondergaard is also survived by her sister, Mrs. L. P. Larsen of Newell. One sister, Mrs. H. C. Larsen, is buried in the Newell cemetery. A brother died in infancy and another brother, who passed away a few years ago both buried in Denmark .
