FINAL RITES HELD FOR IRVING ROUSE

Rochester. May 3. — Funeral services for Irving Rouse, prominent Rochester nurseryman who died Tuesday morning, took place Thursday afternoon at the home. No. 981 Lake avenue. Burial was in Riverside. Cemetery.

Mr. Rouse was a recognized authority in the nursery business, having served as president and chairman of the tariff committee of the American Association of nurseryman and he was a large importer of nursery seedlings. Born at Leeds, N. Y., on October 23, 1853, he came to this city and in early manhood became a member of the nursery firm of Jones & Rouse, and continued through more than fifty years until he was succeeded by his son, about three years ago.

Besides his activity in the nursery business he had many other interest. He for three terms was a member of the Board of Control of the New York Agriculture Experiment Station at Geneva, he was a former director of the Union Trust Company and of the Chamber of Commerce and he was one of the founders and for twenty-five years a member of the Board of Trustees of the North Presbyterian Church, serving also as the president of the board. A lover of outdoor sports, be was a life member of the Rochester Yacht Club, one of the founders of the Oak Hill Country Club and a member of the Genunde-wah Country Club.

At the time of his death he was a director of the Security Trust Company, president of the Geneva Preserving Company, of Geneva and a director of the Empire Coke Company. In resolutions adopted yesterday by trustees of the Security Trust Company, wer the following statements:

"Mr Rouse was an example of a self made man. He manifested early in his career that careful attention, coupled with a vision to see opportunities and to take advantage of them, which with his integrity won success. He was respected and trusted by this board and by the public and his presence and counsel will be missed by us all."
