Jessie Mae Brown Phillips passed away on March 1, 2016, at age 51. Jessie was born April 14, 1964 in New Orleans to Emma and Jesse Brown. She had a fighting spirit, with an attitude of, "Keep going on no matter what." She enjoyed writing poetry, working crossword puzzles, drawing, dancing and traveling. She is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara, a brother, Chris, a sister-in-law, Charlene, a nephew, Hakeem, her father, Jesse, Sr., a niece, Carisa, an uncle Eugene and a special friend, Bill. She is survived by her children, Kendrick Brown and Mollie LeBouef, Joshua Brown and Esperanza Alaviz Hays all of Amarillo, and Lillian Brown and Dwayne Day of New Orleans; her grandchildren, Dylan Emmari, Dalys McKinzy, Jeremy, Ezrah, Jayden, Angel, Kendrick II, Orbree, Kelseigh, Michael, Madyson, Zain and Khloi; her siblings, Matthew, Jessie Jr. and Trina, Claudette and Henry, Arthemese, Shirley, and Jermaine; her mother, Emma Brown of New Orleans and her boyfriend, Carey Boland of Fritch. Celebration of life service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel with Charlie Cox officiating.
