Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Doris Ann Horn passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2020, at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald, and daughter, Susan.
She is survived by her beloved children, David (Dawn) Horn, Sharon (Ray) Pipitone, Michael (Loretta) Horn, John (Deb) Horn, Peter (Donna) Horn, Dee (Dan) Kerr, and Jim (Sandy) Horn; her 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Doris married her husband, Gerald in 1947, and they built their home and began their family in Henrietta, New York, where she lived until 2012. She was then welcomed into her daughter Dee's home and given great care and love by the Kerr family. Doris’ greatest joy in her life was her family – nothing was more important to her. Her children, her grandchildren — Melanie (David) White, Lyndsie (Mark) Cottone, Jerad (Amber) Horn, Jonathan (Jennifer) Horn, Melissa (Gerard) McEneaney, Jamie (Nolan) Perkins, Michelle Lash, Katie (Marc) Rauber, Patrick (Ellen) Horn, Matthew (Nichole) Horn, Stephanie (Nick Prinzing) Horn, Amanda (Cory Jones) Horn, Samantha Kerr and Caroline Kerr — along with her great grandchildren, were the central focus of her life.
Doris became everybody's mother, and taught by example, to give to others and love unconditionally. Whether she was cooking with you, playing cards with you, or shopping for a bargain with you, she always made you feel special. Doris also enjoyed going to the casino and playing scratch off cards.
Doris was a remarkable woman who worked hard to raise seven children following the death of her husband and daughter. She created a home that was open to everyone and made sure that no one ever left her table hungry. Her legacy will live on in her family, and she will be deeply missed by all.
There will be no service at Doris’s request but you are encouraged to gather with family and friends to celebrate her life by sharing your favorite memories of her.
Donations in Doris' memory can be made to the Golisano Autism Center, Happiness House in Canandaigua, New York or the VA Western New York Healthcare System.
