Ronald L. "Ron" Orr, 71, died on August 16, 2020 at his home in Buffalo, IN with family by his side.

He was born on September 28, 1948 in Peru, IN to the late Clarence L. Orr and Eileen M. (Roosa) Orr. On July 11, 1969 at the Buffalo Christian Church, he married Diana Gras; she survives.

Ron was a 1966 graduate of North White High School in Monon. He entered into apprenticeship with Alcoa in Lafayette and became a General Mechanic. Ron worked at Alcoa for over 34 years and retired in 2002. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union #115 holding many offices, including President. After retirement, Ron went to work for the Twin Lakes School Corporation as a bus driver from 2002 until 2013.

He was an avid racer for 33 years. Ron started racing stock cars in 1967 on dirt tracks at Henry Speedway in Oxford, Rennselaer Raceway, Broadway Speedway and Shady Hill Speedway. He ran Micro Midgets at the US24 Speedway in Lake Cicott and raced pavement modifieds at Plymouth, Baerfield, Avilla, New Paris, South Bend and Benton County Speedways. Ron was a member of the ICAR, IMCA, EMOD, IMSS, ICRC and MMA racing associations. He was Grandpa the Car Owner for his grandson since 2009 in the 600 Micro Sprint divisions at US 24 Speedway and Circus City Speedway. Ron had also coached the Buffalo Girls Softball Team for several years in the late 80s and into the 90s. He also enjoyed be a part of the Buffalo Daze (Carshow) and Buffalo Christmas Light Committee.

Ron enjoyed antiquing with his wife and was an avid petroleum collector. Ron and his wife also enjoyed Tuesday Night Cruisers in Monticello. He loved supporting all four of his grandchildren in their various sporting events and activities. Ron and his wife have wintered in Bradenton, FL for the past six years. Ron truly loved in his leisure time sitting on his front porch and watching the river and the boats passing by. Most of all, Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife; two children; four grandchildren; one brother; one brother-in-law; one niece; one great-niece; and two cats, Scooter and KitKat. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Geraldine Gras; one half-brother, Robert Larkin; and one sister, Becky Woodcock.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Buffalo Cemetery in Buffalo, IN.
