Son of William Douglass Sr. of Scotland and Lansing, NY by an unknown 2d wife. Born in Walkill, Orange, NY, Following service in the War of 1812, along with his father, brothers and sisters, he migrated about 1818, to Tompkins Co., NY. There in the Town of Lansing he married Sarah Redner, dau. of Henry and sister of Abner, Apr. 24, 1819. It appears that they settled in the Town of Hector, Tompkins County. After about 20 years residence there, he, and his brother-in-law, Abner Redner, with their families, sought new homes in the newly developing area of Potter Co., PA, and settled on adjoining farms in the Township of Hector.
