Roy Beason, age 72 of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital. Roy Bruce Beason was born October 6, 1947 in Purcell, OK, the 3rd of 4 children born to Carl and Mildred Beason. He was raised in Lexington and attended school there, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1965. Roy joined the United States Army and answered the call to serve his country during Vietnam. He was a true patriot and very proud of his service to country. After the war, he returned home to Oklahoma and began working as a Police Officer in Norman. By chance, he met a young lady from Norman. Her name was Norma Brown. Little did he know, that nearly four years later, a ride home would lead to a lifetime of memories. They fell in love and were married on June 16, 1973 in Norman. They first made their home in Norman, and then Noble for a short time, before settling on the farm east of Lexington. Together they raised two children, daughter Trulie and son, Jory. Roy worked as a corrections officer for LARC and Joseph Harp for nearly 20 years. When he wasn’t working, he was probably playing pool at the American Legion, and he never missed an opportunity to share a good joke. Roy had a beautiful voice, and shared his talents singing at church, community events and for funerals throughout the years. He never met a stranger and was so very proud to be named Lexington Citizen of the Year for 2018. Roy was at home on the farm, and he loved anything and everything to do with horses. He cherished Norma, his children and he was never happier than the day he became “PaPa”. He made sure to tell his grandchildren and great grandchildren every chance he could, “I love you way too much”. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by:
His daughter, Trulie Beason and
His parents, Carl and Mildred Beason.

Roy is survived by:
His wife, Norma of the home;
Son, Jory Beason of Lexington;
Brother, Cap Beason and wife Johnnie of Lexington;
