Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. from Mars Hill United Methodist Church cemetery.

There will be a private family visitation prior to service time at McClain-Hays.
Graveside services for Rufus Hayden Adcock will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. from Mars Hill United Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Mitchell McDonald officiating. McClain- Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Adcock, 82, of Collinsville, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020.



Rufus Adcock passed away at home on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at the age of 82 and was a native of Kemper County and had lived in Neshoba County for the past 17 years.

He attended Mars Hill United Methodist Church of the Shady Grove Community in Neshoba County.

Mr. Adcock served in the U.S. Army for approximately 14 years and was a Vietnam War Veteran serving as a paratrooper and medic and was a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Office in Meridian, MS.

In the early morning hours Rufus enjoyed sitting on the back porch drinking coffee , smoking and loved all animals and sports, especially Ole Miss football.

He is survived by

his wife Lyla Adcock;

daughter, Brenda McKinley;

son, Ronald Adcock;

sisters, Barbara Jacobs and Ruby Terry;

five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Rufus is also survived by

stepson, Tim Hollingsworth,

stepdaughters, Rebecca Little (Chris) Sara Sisson, and Mary Ann Nicholson (Matt) and

his step-grandchildren.

Mr. Adcock was preceded in death by parents, five sisters, and four brothers.

Pallbearers are , Tim Hollingsworth, Chris Little, Matt Nicholson, Ronald Fitzhugh, Mike Painting and Jackie Branning.
