Bertha Sophia Stehwien, oldest daughter of the late Mr. Albert Stehwien, was born at Lake View, Kansas, August 21, 1889, age 29 years; died on Tuesday, November 5, of Spanish influenza. From girlhood, she was a member of the Lutheran church of Lawrence. When married, she joind the Methodist church, at her home near Spring Hill, Kansas. The body was brought to Lawrence for burial. The closure, because of the influenze epidemic, made it necessary to hold the funeral service at the grave. She leaves to mourn, besides her husband and little son, her mother; two brothers, Fred and Albert; three sisters, Clara, Anna and Lydia Stehwien of Midland, Kansas. Fred who is in the army, could not get here in time to attend the funeral. Interment was made at Oak hill cemetery.
