Donna M. Sherwood, of Fulton, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton.

Services for Donna will be private.

Donna Marie Sherwood was born July, 4, 1930, in Baldwin, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Florence (Caven) McCutcheon. She was a 1947 graduate of Delmar (Iowa) High School.

She graduated from Mount St. Clare College in Clinton, with an Associate of Arts Degree. She graduated from Marycrest College, Davenport, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She also attended two summers at Colorado State Teacher’s College in Greeley, Colo., and she attended summer school at the University of Iowa, Iowa City.

Donna was an elementary school teacher for 35 years, of which 30 were with the Clinton Community Schools. She took an early retirement in 1988.

Donna married Clayton Thomas Sherwood on June 15, 1957, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clinton.

Donna was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton, past member of the Clinton Education Association, the Iowa State Education Association and a life member of the National Education Association. She was a retired member of the Iowa State Education Association and a member of the Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband, both in the United States and abroad. They traveled to many countries in Europe and some of those several times. She and her husband loved Ireland. They traveled there four times over the years. They traveled all over the continental United States, Canada many times, and to Hawaii.

She enjoyed the theater, art museums and galleries, reading, walking, and crossword puzzles.

Donna is survived by her husband, Clayton Thomas Sherwood of Fulton; many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Christine Marie Sherwood; four brothers, Perry, Marvin, Kenneth and Kermit McCutcheon; and one sister, Glatha M. Ales.

Memorials may be made to the Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton.

The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
