BRUNSWICK, Ga. - Mrs. Joyce Freeman Hester age 81, wife of the late G. Bertrand Hester passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Golden Isle on May 29, 2008. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2008 with The Reverend Gerald Ragan officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Survivors include, two sons, Glenn B. Hester of St. Simon’s Island, Greg Hester and his wife, Andrea of Brunswick, GA; three daughters, Julie M. Hester of Soperton, GA, Beannie Hester and Ron Foulke of Brunswick, GA, Joyce Hester Buckingham and her husband, Marty of Kensington, MD; two sisters, Bonita Hensley and Dorothy F. Dukes of Augusta, GA and one sister-in-law, Mary Hester Polkosnik and her husband, Stan of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Derek and David Foulke, Mallory, Abbey, and Shannon Buckingham, Kimberly and Karen Hester, Ian Glenn Hester; one great-granddaughter, Brianna K. Hester; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hester was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Mallory and Blanche Hille Freeman, one daughter, Janet B. Hester, and one grandson, Glenn B. Hester III. Mrs. Hester graduated from Tubman High School and the Augusta Jr. College. She was a lifetime member with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was also a member of the Camelia Garden Club, and a Honorary member at West Lake Country Club. She volunteered for many organizations and civic groups in the Augusta area.
