He leaves to mourn his loving wife of nearly 52 years, Gilberte (née Robitaille); his four children, Georges (Donna), Raymond (Michelle), Denis (Kim) and Yvonne (Daniel); and 13 grandchildren, Micheline, Patrick, Matthew, Jean, Stéphane, Daniel, Genevieve, Amelie, Evangeline, Mathurin, Maurice, Rhéal and Christian. He also leaves to mourn his numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Georges was predeceased by his son, Maurice, in 1972 and by one grandson, Vincent, in 2012.
Dad was born on the 11th of September, 1937 on the family farm 8 miles north of St. Claude, Manitoba. Mom and Dad were married on May 2nd, 1964.
Though Dad had several jobs during his lifetime and during the early years of marriage, he always returned to farming. In 1972, Mom and Dad purchased the farm where they raised their family and worked together until their retirement. Dad was a farmer through and through. He was a passionate horsemen and dairy farmer. Although hard on himself physically with every job and task that needed to be completed, he was gentle with his animals.
His gentleness extended to his family, especially his grandchildren, as each one held a special place in his heart. His grandchildren brought out his inner child, and sometimes behaved more like a child with a driver’s license than a grandfather. He shared a special relationship with each one.
A private family service and interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fondation Santé Notre-Dame Health Foundation Inc Box 190, Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB or to a charity of choice.
Adam’s Funeral Home of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba in care of arrangements.
