“I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation”

Edna Inez Bennett (Mom) passed away on January 22, 2019, in Chico, at the age of 81. Edna lived and raised a family primarily in Chico, California, and spent some of her childhood and younger years in Fort Jones, Red Bluff, and San Luis Obispo, California. Edna was born on January 31, 1937, in Red Bluff, to Ruth Alvita McWilliams and Rolla Irwin McWilliams (Mac).
Edna and Daniel Birdseye, Jr., were married in 1956, and subsequently had four children: Edward Birdseye, Nicholas Birdseye, Christopher Birdseye, and Cynthia Birdseye (married name Cynthia Lister).

Edna remarried on June 26, 1980, to Harold Raymond Bennett. They were married for 37 years, until Harold passed away on December 3, 2017. They spent much of their 37 years of marriage enjoying their family, including six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. They traveled around the nation in their various motorhomes and RVs. They also enjoyed riding a motorcycle, bicycles, and taking walks together.

Mom was an incredible mother — faithful, loving, honest and kind. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Through the years she spent quality time with her grandchildren. She was always quick to smile and laugh, and was friendly and loving to everyone.

Mom was employed at Beverly Manor Convalescent Home as a CNA for 35 years. She was a hard worker, arriving early in the mornings to care for the elderly. Her children would often call the pay phone in the hallway at Beverly Manor to say hello, and with many requests.
Mom was raised in the faith (Seventh-day Adventist), and attended other nondenominational churches later in life. She placed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior, and mom was always faithful to pray for others.

Mom’s great desire, even until her very last days, was that her children knew how much she loved them, and “that we all stay together and love one another.” She desired that her children all do well in life.

A memorial service for Edna will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. The location: Glen Oaks Cemetery, at the Mausoleum, 11115 Midway, Chico, CA 95928. Following the service, everyone is welcome for pizza and drinks at Ed Birdseye and Brenda Bowen’s home, 332 Bay Tree Drive, Paradise, CA.

Donations towards organizations who research a cure for Alzheimer’s and dementia disease are greatly appreciated.
