MISS ETTA TURNER BELOVED EDUCATOR BURIFD TUESDAY

Former Citizen Passed On At Grenada Following An Extended Illness, of Several Weeks.

Miss Etta Turner, former citizen of Winona, passed away at a hospital in Grenada following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held from Moore Memorial Methodist church Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock. The Rev. J. R. Countiss conducted the services, assisted by Rev. J. H. Felts, pastor of the Grenada Methodist church and Rev. E. S. Lewis, pastor of Moore Memorial Methodist church. Mr. John Rundle, superintendent of the Grenada schools, paid tribute to Miss Turner's life of usefulness.

Interment followed at Oakwood cemetery.

The deceased is survived by six brothers: Meade Turner of Greenville; Charles Turner, of Greenwood; Will D. Turner of Shaw; Lay Turner of Indianola; Walter Turner of Memphis; and Mort Turner of Water Valley.

Miss Turner was a member of one of the most prominent families of Winona in former days. She was a native Winonian, and spent a great part of her life here. For eighteen years she was a member of the faculty of Grenada College where her influence helped in molding the lives of hundreds of the leading women of Mississippi, she was a member of the faculty of the Grenada School system for eight years and also taught for a few years in the Winona schools. Throughout the quarter of a century that she was identified with the educational institutions of North Mississippi her life was indelibly carved into the lives of her pupils and her sterling characteristics will be reflected in their lives for years to come.
