Ellington Carver was b 8 Dec 1848, North Haven, Me, the s/o Abram J Carver & Rachel Crabtree Calderwood. He d 28 Nov 1875, North Haven in the early stages of the diphtheria epidemic.

Ellington married Ella Agnes Witherspoon on 30 Jan 1875, North Haven. She was b 16 May 1854, North Haven, the d/o James Carroll Witherspoon, Sr & Hannah Greenlaw Thurston.

Ellington & Ella had a son, Frankie W Carver: 3 Nov 1875, North Haven - 17 Nov 1875, North Haven, from diphtheria.

14 Dec 1872: on the petition of Joseph W Whitmore, B C Calderwood, James Cooper, Isaac Brown, James Witherspoon, H D Pendleton, Edward Witherspoon, John Wheeler, Ellington Carver, Ira Carver, R S Babbidge and E C Calderwood, a new road was approved by the Selectmen beginning at the bridge in the town road in Eleazer Crabtree's pasture near the Crabtree Burying Ground [now known as Seaview Cemetery], thence running southerly to the north easterly corner owned by the heirs of Peleg Thomas, thence southerly on the side of said field to the town road.

Marriage Record: This certifies that Ellington Carver of North Haven and Ella A Witherspoon of North Haven were duly joined in marriage on Saturday the 30th day of January AD 1875. By me, Eleazer Crabtree, Justice of the Peace

Ella & Ellington lived in his father's home, which is now part of Thomas Watson's heirs' long house, northeastern part of North Haven.

From the Bangor Daily Whig & Courier (Bangor, Me), Monday, Jan 17, 1876, Issue 14, Column F: The later cases of diphtheria in North Haven are in a milder form, and all are doing well with the exception of Mrs Ellington Carver, who it is thought cannot recover. Her husband and child both died with it.
Obviously, Ella died survive, but sadly, she lost her husband and son who are buried together in Seaview Cemetery.

Oct 28th, 1876: At a special conference, after the usual exercises, voted to receive as candidates Etta A Thomas, Dora L Crabtree and Ella A Carver for baptism, and after baptism, a member of the church. James G Verill, Church Clerk Baptist Church Records, North Haven
