Joe Franklin Baker, 74, of Ellinger, Texas, passed away on August 3, 2020 in Hallettsville, Texas.

He was born February 11, 1946 to James Franklin Baker and Luola Jerlene (Kerr) Baker in Schulenburg, Texas.

Joe loved horses and being a cowboy, playing dominoes and listening to good old country music, and most of all he enjoyed giving everyone a hard time.

Joe is survived by his son Cody Joe Baker and wife Lisa of Katy, Texas; grandchildren Kaycee Walker and Ty Baker; great granddaughter Emilia Walker; sister Rebecca Baker Ulbig of Fayetteville, Texas; sister Ruby Nalls and husband Coleman of Sheridan, Texas; brother James Ellis Baker and wife Sue of Waveland, Mississippi; brother Jimmie David Baker and wife Dolly of Three Rivers, Texas; brother William Jay Baker and wife Doris of Fayetteville, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Joe served in the US Army from 1965 - 1967 and specialized in Telecommunication. He served in the Vietnam War between 1966 - 1967. He is decorated with the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was preceded in death by parents James Franklin Baker and Luola Jerlene Kerr.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. Pastor Tommy Wenzel will be officiating.

Burial will take place in Myrtle Cemetery in Rock Island, Texas.

Pallbearers are Cody Bell, Donny Heffernan, Dewey Hinton (Honorary), Greg Hunger, Mikey Loesch, Ronnie Poncik, John Trapp (Alt), Victor Ulbig, Mike Ulbig (Honorary).
