Herbert C. “Herb” Ferguson of Oklahoma City, passed away July 23, 2020 at the age of 89. He was born August 9, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Lester L. & Grace V. (Michael) Ferguson.

Herb enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He enjoyed fishing in private ponds and he enjoyed bird hunting in western Oklahoma. Herb was an Oklahoma Sooners fan and he enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He enjoyed watching “Swamp People,” “Andy Griffith,” “Carol Burnett” and “Cops.”

Herb grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Foster High School, where he played baseball and basketball. After high school, he played semi-pro baseball. He was employed by TG&Y, where he worked in the warehouse. While he was employed at TG&Y, he coached the company’s softball team and also played short-stop for the team. Herb and Frances enjoyed taking the kids on vacation and they never missed the kids’ school activities. Herb liked playing baseball with his kids, nieces, nephews and the neighborhood kids, and they all liked playing ball with him as well. His son, Rick said his dad was very outgoing and very likeable. He enjoyed family get-togethers and enjoyed being with the family. Herb was a kind and loving man with a very giving heart. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother. His first love was being with his wife, Frances, the love of his life for 70 years, spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

Herb is survived by his wife, Frances, of the home; 1 daughter, Karen Allen & husband, Richard, of Oklahoma City; 2 sons, Randy Ferguson & wife, Sandra, of Oklahoma City, and Rick Ferguson & significant other, Mykel, of Oklahoma City ; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and 1 more on the way; 1 sister, Carolyn Donaldson & husband, Lonnie, of Oklahoma City. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester & Grace Ferguson; 3 brothers, Leo, Billy and Louis Ferguson.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, Oklahoma. Interment to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held from 1:30pm-9:00 pm, Sunday, July 26th and from 9:00am-9:00pm, Monday, July 27th at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel.
