Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, August 18, 1955 from the Larson Funeral Home in Newel, Iowa for Walter Wendrup, who passed away Tuesday evening, August 16. Rev. Chas. Terrill conduced the service.
Pallbearers were Emiel Bodholdt Axel Christensen, Lloyd Davis, Harold Larsen, LeRoy Brewster and Chris S. Christensen. Mrs. Helene Jensen and Mrs. Hans Larson were in charge of flowers. Walter Wendrup, son of Sophie and Frederick Nielsen Wendrup was born Ma y 8, 1887 at Newell, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. His death came at Swallum Hospital at Storm Lake , Iowa on Tuesday, August 16, 1955 at the age of 68 years, 3 month s and 8 days. He was married to Wilhemina Hansen in 1917. Sh e passed away in 1921 after which he made his home wit h his mother. He wasremarried March 10, 1924 to Nellie Evans Flemings. Mrs. Nellie Wendrup passed away in 1941.
He had lived in this community most of his life, having been employed b y the City for a number of years until his health failed. In 1953 h e was admitted to Des Moines and later was take n to Swallum Hospital in Storm Lake, where he was a patient for more than a year and a half before his death. His parents preceded him in death.
