Ruth passed from this life on Thursday, June 28, 2018 in the East Texas Hospice Hospital in Tyler, Texas.
She was born to Evie Myrtle Moose and James Clayton Bird on November 8, 1926 in New Summerfield, Texas. She resided in Jacksonville and was a member of the Southside Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, Pete Betts and Joel Martin; her sisters, Florence Wells, Edith Searcy; brothers Charles Ray Bird, Harold Bird, Buddy Bird, and a grandson, James Cassidy Betts.
Ruth is survived by her children: Mart O. "Pete" Betts and wife, Jeanie of Jacksonville, Gene Betts and wife Jan of Mineola, Jim Betts and wife Pam of Longview and Zynda Patton and husband, Don of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
She is also survived by brothers Don Bird and his wife, Pat and Richard Bird and his wife Joy.
She is survived by 6 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are grandsons Shane Betts, Ross Patton, and great grandsons Skyylr Betts, Shel'tn Betts, Sawyr Betts, Silis Betts, Wayne Fancher and Paul Fancher.
