Elsie Clodfelter Bowers, 97, died on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Thomasville. She was born on August 26, 1922 in Davidson County, NC to Roby M. Clodfelter and Flora Shoaf Clodfelter, who predeceased her. She also had two brothers and four sisters who predeceased her.

She married Gurlie H. Bowers on June 3, 1939. Mr. Bowers died on September 23, 2018. Of their marriage were born Bob W. Bowers (Shirley), Carol G. Sipe (Tony), and Jim D. Bowers (Nancy), all of whom survive. She was also survived by seven grandchildren, Miranda B. Proctor (Sid, III), Jeff Bowers (Catherine), Angela Davis (Ronnie), Guhi Bowers (Jennifer), Gary Bowers (Kristy), Tonya S. Boyd (Rev. Bob Boyd). A special grandson, Quinn Sipe predeceased Mr. and Mrs. Bowers. Mrs. Bowers was also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Nellie C. Swicegood.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Bowers was employed by Kayby Hosiery Mill.

She was a charter and current member of Greenwood Baptist Church and was its first pianist. She served a total of 47 years as pianist for churches.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a private graveside service, at which only immediate members of her family will attend, will be held at Victory Baptist Church Cemetery, on Clodfelter Road,
