Eugene Carrol Critchlow, 92, died on Saturday, July 25, 2020. He was born in Indianapolis, IN to Edith & Eamer Critchlow and he has 1 sister, Shirley (Don) Embry.

He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and received an Associates Degree in Engineering Technology from Purdue University.

He was married June 25, 1949 to Betty Anderson. They have been happily married for 71 years.

They have 2 daughters, Carole Hundley (Mark) and Sheila Gann (Eugene),

3 grandchildren, Gene Hundley (Cassie), Amanda Hall (Thomas) & Ryan Gann (Morgan) 5 great grandchildren, Allee, Ethan, Katelynn, Calvin, and Travis.

He retired from RCA where he worked as an electrical technician. He was there to see the beginning of color TV, video discs, VCR tapes, and finally DVDs.

Gene served his country in the Air Force for 4 years. He served during the Korean War and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.

He was a kind, good hearted man who loved his family and enjoyed visiting with them. He and Betty babysat for all 3 of their grandchildren while their parents went to work. They also babysat for their great grandchildren, especially Allee who to this day still spends an evening once a week with her great grandparents.

He was a very handy man. He helped his Dad build a home in Bicknell, IN, where his parents lived for several years. Over the years whenever his family needed anything fixed, they knew they could count on him to help them out.

He loved gardening, and had quite a garden in his back yard. He was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed getting cards from people in other countries who he had contacted. He built himself a sailboat and enjoyed sailing it at Eagle Creek Reservoir. He was quite a photographer and took lots of pictures the family will always cherish. He also liked building airplanes and belonged to a club where friends got together and flew them.

He took his family on several vacations, including camping and trips to other states including one memorable trip to Yellowstone National Park. They spent lots of vacations in Florida. Everyone enjoyed the ocean.

He had lots of bird feeders for the birds and liked watching them from the kitchen window. Later in life he enjoyed sitting on the patio rocker with Betty and enjoying nature.
