Descendant of James Hindman

She was a descendant of John Lewis of Ireland and his wife, Margaret Lynn, who settled in the Shenandoah Valley about 1732 through their daughter, Margaret Lewis, who married William Long.

Mrs. R.V. (Billie Jane) Crutchfield, Route 2, Sumner, died Tuesday, January 13, 1987. Services were held with Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home. Mrs. Crutchfield was born April 7, 1928, in Tigertown, a daughter of Robert O. Hindman and Minnie Virginia Long Hindman. She attended Tigertown and Direct schools and married Mr. Crutchfield on December 24, 1945, in Paris. She was a Baptist. They lived in Direct until 1947 when they moved to Springlake, Texas. They lived in Solona Beach, California from 1957 until 1975 when they returned to the Maxey community.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters of Paris and of Lemon Grove, California; one son of Maxey; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Henrietta Simmons of Sherman, Charlene Piland of Borger, Bobbie Simpson of Corpus Christi and Margie Walker of Paris; three brothers, Robert Lee Hindman of Paris, Woodrow Hindman of Paris and Odies Hindman of Paris; a half-sister, Linda Crosley of Paris and a half-brother, Glynn Hindman of Garland.
