Mrs. McCullough was born in Casada, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick and Mary Dooley Murphy. She died at her home in Sherman, Grayson County, Texas.

She moved with her family on the "Old Iron Mountain Railroad" to Grayson County in 1876, where the line ended.

On 19 April 1885, she married Hugh McCullough, a local farmer, at the old St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sherman. They were blessed with eight sons and one daughter.

At the time of her death she had been a member of St. Mary's since 1876 and the St. Mary's Altar Society for 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one son Joseph McCullough.

She was survived by seven sons, John, James, Felix and Charles, all of Sherman, Hugh Thomas of San Antonio, Frank of Dallas and Monsignor Edward McCullough of Tyler, all in Texas; one daughter Miss Mary McCullough of Sherman; one brother, Joe Murphy of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Anna Crouse of Sherman; and 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Rosary was recited at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel, Sherman.

Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with her son, a former pastor, Monsignor Edward McCullough officiating.
