Leander F. Mesmer
Leander Frank(Major)Mesmer, 82, of 316 S. Eighth, Burlington, died in the yard of his home about 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, of an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Mesmer was born July 27, 1890, in Burlington, the son of Leander Mesmer, and he married Mary F. Kain in Burlington, June 25, 1913.
He was a bookkeeper for Baker Oil Company for over 35 years, retiring 10 years ago.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic church, Knights of Columbus, Eagles, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Machinist Union, Railroad Veterans Assn., and the Traverler's Protection Assn.
Surviving the wife, two sons, Father Gerald Mesmer, O.S.B, Atchinson, Kan.; and Robert F., Fargo, N.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral: 10 a.m., Saturday, St. John's Catholic church, Fr. Gerald Mesmer, his son; Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Prugh's chapel.
