Last rites for Johnson Rowe held Friday

Funeral services for Johnson Rowe, longtime Winona insurance agent, were held here last Friday at two o'clock at the First Presbyterian Church.

Rev. Morris Taylor officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rowe died at Tyler-Holmes Hospital on February 4th, following an illness of several weeks. He was 80 years old.

A native of Clinton, Mississippi, Mr. Rowe had been the local agent for State Farm Insurance in Winona for the past thirteen years. He was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church. Active in the Masonic order, he was a member of Winona Masonic Lodge No. 48, the Winona Chapter 78 of the Royal Arch Masons, and was a Knights Templar Mason.

Mr. Rowe was married to the former Ella Staples, who died in 1959.

He is survived by a son, J. S. Rowe of Midland, Texas and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Fred Watts, Cecil Simpson, Barksdale Garner, Lathan Joblin, Arnold Hammond, and Ben Kavanaugh, with the deacons and elders of the First Presbyterian Church serving as honorary pallbearers.
