Arthur passed on at New Hampshire Veterans' Home. His wife and daughter were at his side.

He was born in Lisbon Falls, the oldest son of Edward C. Barron and Linna M. (Seidel) Barron. He graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in 1941.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. During World War II, he participated in operations throughout central Europe, including England, Northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes and Germany. He took part in the invasion of Normandy and was among the first American units to enter Paris. He received five Bronze Battle Stars and one Bronze Star Medal for Valor. He was discharged from the Army in October 1945.

On Oct. 14, 1961, he married Constance Dionne of Auburn. He was a longtime resident of Auburn.

He was a member of the 29th Infantry Division Association. In addition, he was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9459 in Lisbon, and a member of the Lisbon American Legion Post 158.

Surviving family includes his wife of 46 years, Constance D. Barron, who now resides in Concord, N.H., his daughter, Martha Barron, a son-in-law, John Greenwood, and two grandchildren, Margaret Sophia and Benjamin Arthur, all of Bradford, N.H.; a sister, Nathalie Johnson of Orleans, Mass.; a sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Charles Siletti of Owls Head; a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Doryce Barron of Durham; as well as nieces and nephews.
