Melinda Spears, 62, passed away on Friday, July 17 2020, at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born on September 24, 1957, to Neal S. Magee and Betty Sue Fortenberry in Prentiss, MS.

She was employed with Simpson General Hospital.

She is survived by her partner, Mike Peacock; daughter, Terra McInnis of Carson, MS; sons, James Aultman of Seminary, MS, stepson, Scott Peacock; brothers, Oscar Magee, Gary Magee; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Jefferson Davis County. She graduated high school from Prentiss Christian School. For a time, she joined the United States Marine Corps. After being discharged, she started attending Pearl River Community College where she received her degree and her calling as a nurse. For over 40 years, she loved and cared for countless people, and I say people, because they were people before becoming her patient. When she came in contact with anyone during her career, they left with a piece of her heart. There was never a person that she couldn’t find the best in them. She was an avid lover of God and family, and of course horses. Heaven most definitely gained an angel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jason Daniel Holbrook and sister, Mary Beth Buckley.
