Born in Darlington on October 18, 1935, she is the daughter of the late Newt and Lavinia Harden Skipper. Mrs. Young retired from Dixie Cup, and operated Young’s Greenhouse with her late husband, Alton. She enjoyed going fishing and travelling around the United States with Mr. Young.
She is survived by her sons; Mitchell (Carolyn) Shoemake of Darlington, Tom ( Donna) Shoemake of Jefferson, step-children: Diane Goodson of Hilton Head, SC, Cathy Young of Ashland, KY, Deborah (Andy) Rentz of Ft. Mill, SC, and Sandy Plowden of Darlington, Neil (Randy) Young of Gilbert, SC, David (Dani) Young of Hartsville, SC, grandchildren: Michelle Shoemake, Brent (Deann) Shoemake and Erin Kent, many step-grandchildren, brothers: Charles (Sylvia) Skipper, Ted (Diane) Skipper, Bill (sherry) Skipper; sisters: Pat (Gary) Gardner, Mary McCartney
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Young, and siblings, Jackie Wayne Skipper and a sister, Dinah Caddell.
