Frederick Ranken, Playwright
Mr. Frederick Ranken, the librettist of "Happy Land," died yesterday of typhoid fever at his home in New York. He had written a number of musical comedies, but "Happyland" represented his entrance into high class work. He had made a contract with Reginald De Koven, and they had figured on turning out high-class comic opera ever year. Mr. Ranken was thirty-six years of age.
