Charles Edward Herring

Charles Edward Herring, 64, Montgomery County native and retired Leland construction worker, died Monday, Sept. 26, 1988, at the Delta Medical Center in Greenville, from heart failure after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sammie Springer Herring of Leland, a daughter, Mrs. Charline Ryan of Wesson, a son, Charles Herring, Jr. of Champaign, Ill., a brother, James E. Herring of Stewart, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A member of the Baptist church, he was a veteran of World War II, in the U.S. Army.

Graveside services were conducted in Oakwood Cemetery at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28. The Rev. Frank Bishop preached.

Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
