Steve A. Davis, 71, of Freeport, IL, passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2020. He was born on March 28, 1948, in Savanna, IL, to Art Davis and Bertha (White) Shultz. Steve married Michele L. Smith on June 28, 1967, and they recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Steve worked maintenance at Newell Window Furnishings for many years and later retired from Peterbilt in 2013. He continued part time work by driving for a taxi service.

Steve spent many years boating on the Mississippi with family. He enjoyed last minute road trips, weekend drives, and never asking for directions.

Steve was an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved watching the games with his grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing with family and friends, and looked forward to his weekend breakfasts with his brothers. He had the gift of gab, quick witted, and a sarcastic comment for everyone he met.

Survivors include his wife, Michele (Smith) Davis; son, Sean (Kimberly) Davis; daughter, Kelley (Chris) Haubach; grandchildren, Cameron (Shana) Davis, Jordan (Cassidy) Tempel, Taylor Bach, and Brittanee Davis; great-grandchildren Ryleigh Bach, Ashton Wool, and Paityn Davis; brothers Don Davis, Danny Joe Davis, Randy Davis, Mark Hurd; sisters Barbara Micheal, and Kathy Hoyer.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tammy Davis; brothers, Kenneth Johnson and Tim Davis; and nephew, Aryl Dailey.

Steve was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

At Steve's request, no services will be held. Condolences and memories can be shared with his family and friends.
