Bettye J. Reed, 84, of Peoria, formerly of Toulon, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Proctor Hospital, Peoria.
Bettye was born April 28, 1923, in Chillicothe, the daughter of Howard and Elsie (Ford) Screeton. She married James L. Reed on Jan. 11, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He survives.
Also surviving is one son, Craig (and Cheryl) Reed of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Gary Reed, in 1997.
She worked for Bergner's in Sheridan Village for many years until retiring in 1986.
Cremation has been accorded and a graveside service will be in Brimfield Cemetery.
