In Memory of the Hon. Jabez Hamlin, Esq., son of the late John Hamlin, Esq., who deceased AE 82, April 5, 1791. Having been honored by the Public confidence from his youth to his advanced age, & employed by the Public confidence from his youth to his advanced age, & employed in various grades of office until he was called to the higher duties of Magistracy. After a life of great usefulness in Church & State, he died in a good old age regretted, beloved & lamented.

Hon. Jabez Hamlin was the son of Judge John and Mary (Collins) Hamlin, and grandson of the Hon. Giles and Hester (Crowe) Hamlin..
He married 1st, Margaret Phillips, daughter of Capt. Geo. Phillips, on Dec. 6, 1736; 2nd, Abigail Chauncey, daughter of Nathaniel Chauncey of Durham on April 5, 1749; and 3rd, to Susannah Newton on April 2, 1771 in Mildford, CT.
