Smith, Andrew Walker-
It is with profound sadness that the family of Andrew Walker Smith announces his passing after a brief illness, in Minneapolis on July 16, 2020. Born March 9, 1961, Andrew (or Walker, as he was known to many friends) is survived by his son, Maxwell Traxler Smith; his mother, Marjorie G. Smith; his sisters, Cheri (Patrick Meehan), Cindy Smith, and Candace (Bruce) Walker; his nieces Carolyn (Andrew) Cole and Sarah Walker; his great niece Diane and great nephew Daniel; and his beautiful dog, Ava. He is preceded in death by his beloved father, Daniel L. Smith. Walker loved the outdoors and spent many hours with his son at Ft. Snelling in Minneapolis. He attended Carleton College and the University of Minnesota and spent the last 27 years of his career as a valued employee of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, following his passion for the environment. He was also a tremendous music lover and passed along many of his musical tastes to members of his family. Walker will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. Memorial services will be held in his hometown of Greencastle, Indiana, at a date to be determined. Donations in his memory may be made to the Humane Society, the Nature Conservancy, the Ft. Snelling Foundation, or a charity of your choice. A private family inurnment was held at Forest Hill Cemetery in his hometown of Greencastle, Indiana.
