Lieutenant Daniel Foote was the son of Daniel Foote and Martha Stillman of Hartford County, Connecticut. In 1772 Daniel Jr. purchased property in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, from his father. Daniel was married twice; first to Sarah Goodrich, 28 July 1774, in Wethersfield, Connecticut; and after her death to Prudence Benton, widow of James Knowles who died as a prisoner of the British in 1777; Daniel and Prudence married 11 November 1779 in Newington, Hartford County, Connecticut.

Daniel had two children with Sarah and six with Prudence.

"Deaths" - The Pittsfield Sun, Jan. 5, 1832: "Died at Dalton on Monday last, Mr. Daniel Foot in the 84th year of his age."
